Vous d\u00e9couvrirez dans cet article de blog comment cela fonctionne et sur quelle m\u00e9thodologie repose la technologie qui se cache derri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Downscaling - r\u00e9gionalisation des pr\u00e9visions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Pour comprendre comment les pr\u00e9visions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques sont effectivement \u00e9tablies, nous devons d'abord entrer un peu dans le vif du sujet. En effet, on suppose parfois que les stations m\u00e9t\u00e9o les plus proches fournissent les pr\u00e9visions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques pour la r\u00e9gion. En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, ce sont des mod\u00e8les m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques complexes qui sont \u00e0 l'origine des pr\u00e9visions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques. Les pr\u00e9visions sont calcul\u00e9es plusieurs fois par jour sur des superordinateurs par des services m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques nationaux et internationaux, comme par exemple le service m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique allemand (DWD). Pour ce faire, un mod\u00e8le m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique permet de calculer l'\u00e9volution des \u00e9v\u00e9nements m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques au cours des heures et des jours \u00e0 venir.<\/p>\n<h4><b>Les valeurs mesur\u00e9es servent de point de d\u00e9part pour les pr\u00e9visions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>Pour simplifier, on peut dire que dans un mod\u00e8le m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique, la terre est divis\u00e9e en cases. On peut se repr\u00e9senter cela comme un damier. Chaque case du damier peut se voir attribuer une valeur pour la temp\u00e9rature, la pression atmosph\u00e9rique ou l'humidit\u00e9 de l'air. Sur la base des lois de la physique, on calcule ensuite comment les diff\u00e9rentes valeurs \u00e9voluent au fil du temps. Plus ces grilles sont petites, plus la r\u00e9solution du mod\u00e8le m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique est \u00e9lev\u00e9e et plus l'influence des conditions r\u00e9gionales, comme la topographie, peut \u00eatre repr\u00e9sent\u00e9e de mani\u00e8re r\u00e9aliste. Pour chaque grille, on travaille en effet avec une topographie moyenne. Cela signifie que les d\u00e9tails topographiques disparaissent dans les mod\u00e8les ayant une r\u00e9solution plus faible. Cette diff\u00e9rence est clairement visible dans la figure 1. Pour les valeurs initiales des calculs, une multitude de donn\u00e9es de mesure provenant de stations m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques, de ballons m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques, d'avions ou de donn\u00e9es satellites sont int\u00e9gr\u00e9es dans le mod\u00e8le.<\/p>\n<h4><b>La r\u00e9solution des mod\u00e8les m\u00e9t\u00e9o est d\u00e9cisive<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>Plus la r\u00e9solution d'un mod\u00e8le m\u00e9t\u00e9o est \u00e9lev\u00e9e, plus la capacit\u00e9 de calcul n\u00e9cessaire est importante. C'est pourquoi la plupart des mod\u00e8les m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques ont actuellement, dans le meilleur des cas, une r\u00e9solution horizontale de 1 km x 1 km. Pour les pr\u00e9visions \u00e0 moyen terme, qui s'\u00e9tendent sur plusieurs jours, la r\u00e9solution est souvent nettement inf\u00e9rieure. Par exemple, le mod\u00e8le ICON-EU du DWD poss\u00e8de une r\u00e9solution d'environ 6km x 6km et s'\u00e9tend jusqu'\u00e0 180 heures dans le futur. Le mod\u00e8le ICON-D2 \u00e0 plus haute r\u00e9solution a quant \u00e0 lui une r\u00e9solution d'environ 2km x 2km, mais ne s'\u00e9tend que sur 48 heures dans le futur.<\/p>\n<p>Pour estimer l'\u00e9volution g\u00e9n\u00e9rale du temps dans les jours \u00e0 venir, cette r\u00e9solution est souvent tout \u00e0 fait suffisante. Cela devient probl\u00e9matique lorsque l'on s'int\u00e9resse au microclimat sp\u00e9cifique d'une position. Comme les valeurs pr\u00e9visionnelles issues des mod\u00e8les m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques repr\u00e9sentent plut\u00f4t des valeurs moyennes sur une grille, elles peuvent parfois s'\u00e9carter nettement des valeurs r\u00e9elles \u00e0 une coordonn\u00e9e donn\u00e9e. Ce probl\u00e8me est particuli\u00e8rement marqu\u00e9 lorsque le point de pr\u00e9vision se trouve dans une r\u00e9gion \u00e0 la topographie complexe.<\/p>\n<h4><b>R\u00e9gionalisation des donn\u00e9es m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>Pour corriger ces erreurs dans les pr\u00e9visions, on utilise en m\u00e9t\u00e9orologie et en physique climatique la technique dite de la r\u00e9gionalisation (en anglais downscaling). Cette technique consiste \u00e0 utiliser les relations statistiques entre la topographie et le microclimat afin de mieux calibrer les pr\u00e9visions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques par rapport \u00e0 la topographie locale. La r\u00e9gionalisation rev\u00eat une importance particuli\u00e8re pour tous les processus dans lesquels de petites diff\u00e9rences peuvent d\u00e9j\u00e0 avoir de grandes r\u00e9percussions. En viticulture, par exemple, une diff\u00e9rence de 2 \u00e0 3 heures dans la dur\u00e9e de mouillage des feuilles peut d\u00e9j\u00e0 avoir un impact important sur le risque d'infection par la p\u00e9ronosporose. C'est pourquoi les pr\u00e9visions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques de VineForecast sont d'abord r\u00e9gionalis\u00e9es avant d'\u00eatre utilis\u00e9es dans la mod\u00e9lisation des maladies.<\/p>\n<p>Un exemple de r\u00e9gionalisation de la temp\u00e9rature \u00e0 2 m\u00e8tres d'altitude est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 sur la figure 2 ci-dessous. \u00c0 gauche, on voit la pr\u00e9vision m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique standard du mod\u00e8le ICON-D2 du DWD (r\u00e9solution de 2 km x 2 km), tandis qu'\u00e0 droite, on voit la pr\u00e9vision r\u00e9gionalis\u00e9e de VineForecast (r\u00e9solution de 25 m x 25 m). Pour cela, nous comparons les pr\u00e9visions d'infection pour les infections secondaires par Peronospora entre la pr\u00e9vision m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique standard et la pr\u00e9vision m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique r\u00e9gionalis\u00e9e dans l'exemple du 11 juin 2021 pour la r\u00e9gion de Cochem sur la Moselle.<\/p>\n<p>La somme journali\u00e8re de la variable \u201cdegr\u00e9s-heures en cas d'humidit\u00e9 du feuillage\u201d est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement utilis\u00e9e pour mesurer le risque d'infection par Peronospora. Cette variable est calcul\u00e9e \u00e0 partir des valeurs horaires de la temp\u00e9rature et de l'humidit\u00e9 du feuillage, en additionnant toutes les valeurs de temp\u00e9rature sur une journ\u00e9e pour lesquelles l'humidit\u00e9 du feuillage \u00e9tait pr\u00e9sente au m\u00eame moment (voir aussi ici). Si la somme journali\u00e8re d\u00e9passe une valeur de 50, on consid\u00e8re qu'il y a un l\u00e9ger risque d'infection. A partir de valeurs sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 150, il faut s'attendre \u00e0 de fortes infections.<\/p>\n<p>Si nous comparons maintenant les pr\u00e9visions de maladies bas\u00e9es sur les pr\u00e9visions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques standard avec les pr\u00e9visions r\u00e9gionalis\u00e9es de la figure 3, il est clair que la r\u00e9gionalisation influence fortement les pr\u00e9visions de maladies et que la pression infectieuse varie fortement \u00e0 courte distance.
